It’s been a week since this excitement began and we are already feeling the hand of the Lord in this process. He has reassured us. He has enlightened us. He is guiding us. He is blessing us. Our children feel His peace in their lives just as we do. We have learned more about the church in Iceland. It is small and we are excited to support the members there. We have learned more about the climate in Iceland. While it is as far north as where we lived in Alaska, the climate is much more moderate because of the gulf stream and the trade winds that cross the island. It will be colder than Oregon, but we know how to live in cold weather, wet weather, and light summers and dark winters. We are looking forward to spectacular scenery and exciting experiences. We have learned more about Icelandic. The MTC online training does not offer lessons in Icelandic. But, almost everyone in Iceland speaks English. So, we will try to learn some Icelandic but we will be speaking English.
We know the Lord is guiding and directing us along this path. We look forward to sharing our adventures with you as we serve our mission. Who knows what we will encounter? But Todd and I get to do it together and we couldn’t be happier about that! We both know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. And, we will do our best to live and share the message of the gospel with the people in Iceland and with all of you as you join us on our mission. Hurrah for Israel!
